Membership

Please note the followning information about our membership requirements:

Membership is based on a "household." A household includes a single individual, or married or unmarried couples living at the same address.  Memberships are not transferrable.

Applicants must be residents of North Lake Tahoe (Incline Village to Tahoe City) or Truckee. The number of household members is fixed by the Board annually to ensure a safe, quality hiking experience for all. Because our hiking season normally lasts about six months (late April to late October), we encourage each Tramper to participate in at least six (6) hikes each season.

To ensure that our hikes are consistently safe and enjoyable for all, we offer three levels of hikes each Thursday during the season which differ in terms of distance, elevation gain, and difficulty.  Hikes are described in detail in weekly emails to all Trampers.  We expect all members to participate only on the hikes that best fit their abilities and schedules.  Also, we follow strict hiking etiquette meaning that hike leaders are in charge and do what they can to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all concerned.  That requires all hikers to follow their lead and instructions.  Each hiker is ultimately responsible for his/her own safety.

All Trampers (i.e. all household members) must annually fill out and sign a liability release form which covers all Tramper activities, not just hikes.

Finally, we allow only those house guests of active Trampers to join our hikes.  It is the responsibility of the host Tramper to fill out a liability release form for each house guest for each hike.

You can fill out an application to be put on our waitlist by CLICKING HERE.  The number of household  memberships is fixed.  We only add new members once a year in December after we confirm the latest number of membership renewals.  You will be notified at that time if your wait is over.  As our waitlist is long, this may take four or more seasons before you are contacted.
